I had a pretty epic spearfishing day yesterday, which made me realize I need a waterproof camera in my life. So I bought one today, and I’ve been drinking heavily and fucking around with it taking bad pictures of my cars and stuff tonight. I’m a really shitty photographer. Anyway, on the whole, the pictures of wheels suck least. So here they are. I think they’re cool. I love wheels. Let’s see yours!
Shitty picture of some brake dust-coated Ultras on my Tahoe.
Shitty picture of some Forgestar F14s on my M3.
Shitty picture of some Fuchs on my Porsche.
Shitty picture of the stock wheels on my V-Sport
The best of a bunch of truly, truly awful pictures I took of my Z06 tonight,
I’m sorry I’m such a shitty photographer, guys. I’ll try to get better.

For some reason I like the first one best.

Epic photobomb

But it’s the middle of the night! So here are some old photos that show the wheels well.
BMW Basketweaves -
My Miata had these wheels -
And my Porsche has the stock 924 wheel, but powder-coated beaten bronze -

Yeah. Middle of the night is usually when I get bored and start posting shit.
That e34 looks proper, dude. Nicely done. Also, in true Oppo fashion, the hood is popped in every one of your photos.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:16 |
|
Haha, thanks.
And well, the Miata was not exactly popped by choice. It was less ‘popped’ and more ‘forcibly wrested from the front of the car’ -

No pictures handy and the car is 100 miles away at the moment, but the Z3 has BMW’s cross spokes on it. I’m rather fond of them... they’re stylish in an understated way.

BMW does a nice job on wheels. Simple and solid.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:30 |

Well shit.

What aspect ratio are the M3's tires? Those Forgestars look great with the profile, especially with the gunmetal finish.
Always liked how the SVT Focus’s wheels are almost indentical to the Cobra R’s but with a different bolt pattern and centers. Mine need a bit of a touch-up, though, construction in my town chipped the crap out of the poor things:

First of all, good job on managing to make a C6 Z06 look bad haha
Then here are my wheels...
My normal ones, 15" SSR, fitted with some Toyo Proxes
Then my winter tires, also fitted on SSR with a color I don’t like so much, so well, they are my winter tires fitted with Michelin X-Ice (I use them like 1 week per year when I go snowboarding or ice drifting...)
I also have a set of Watanabes in 14" that will my future daily driving setup. They will be fitted with Yokohama Neova AD07. I have yet to order the tires.
On my Mini I have set of Minilite, fitted with some economy tires that are the absolute worse.

Not sure what you mean by ‘aspect ratio’, but up front they’re 19s wrapped in 245-35 19s, if that helps.
SVT Foci are badass, dude. I’m a huge fan.

Yeah, the list of stock BMW wheels I don't care for is pretty small.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:47 |

Lol. Yeah dude, I’m super talented.
Bitchin’ stable dude. Yeah, that bronze is a little goofy with the two-tone. Those Watanabes should look just right though.

You have quite a few great cars. My FoST is wearing these fusion 17" wheels for winter. I think the double 5 spoke look combined with the the agressive tread is a decent look IMO. Plus the hub and lug sizes match.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:48 |
|
Same here. But strangely, I’m one of the very few who doesn’t care for the forged 19s on the e46 M3. All my friends said I was out of my mind when I swapped them out for the Forgestars.

I thought ‘aspect ratio’ is the technical term for the tire sidewall size, could be wrong though, either way the silver with the gunmetal grey wheels is a great look with such low profile tires.
And thank you, I’ve had mine for about four-and-a-half years and don’t really have any plans to get rid of it anytime soon. It’s not very fast but man does it corner, great little car.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:50 |

Thanks man. Yeah, that looks nice. I’ve been meaning to go test drive a FoST, but I haven’t gotten around to it. How do you like it?
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:57 |

My 15 outback is wearing a set of 15 WRX wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion tires.
Here’s how it looked earlier this week after I picked up a nail.
And here’s a shot of the whole car.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:57 |

It could be. I’m far from an expert. The M3 is actually a dark grey, and the wheels are a flat black. It’s a combination of florescent lighting and horrible photography skills. But I agree with your opinion so much that I ordered my V-Sport silver with gunmetal wheels.
Hang on to that thing man. That could be one of those kind of rare trims that ends up appreciating.

It’s OK. Definately feels like a gussied up economy car, but the ergonomics are great, steering feels good and the trans is ok. Second best fwd power train I’ve driven after the new civic si/accord sport. Grip and handling are great, but you have to check your sports car expectations at the door.

Fair enough. I drove a FiST, and I kind of got the same impression. I liked it, and it was pretty direct by modern standards, but it didn’t seem quite worthy of all the hype.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 02:59 |
|
Yeah ugly alright haha
I can’t wait to put them with the AD07... Best tires that can actually fit my car on 14 inches :)
![]() 02/13/2016 at 03:01 |

I have the same problems with my Porsche. It’s just an old-ass wheel size, and nobody makes good tires for them anymore.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 03:04 |
|
Looks great man. I’m a big fan of the ‘upgraded but still stock’ look.
The black wheels look awesome with all the black on the car too. Well done all around.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 03:07 |
|
Thanks a ton for the complements. The pictures make them look black, but they are actually an awesome gunmetal grey in person. Never heard the term “upgraded but stil stock”, but I like it, and will use it to describe my car in the future.

Haha, I might have to agree with the haters.
*tosses peanut*

I have to admit, I don’t care for the e-dif, but I do love the torque vectoring and automatic trail braking. As long as your tires are fresh and you are not too hot coming out of the turn, the car feels like it’s on rails the way it grips. The understeer imperceptible.

Ow! Dick!
It’s ok. I know I’m on the wrong side of this one. But for the first couple months I had the car, every time I walked into the garage I was like ‘Fuck, I hate those wheels.’ So I changed ‘em out.

You owe me 75 cents each time you say it.

I’ll go check it out. Seems like it’s worth a drive, and it’s always fun scaring salesmen.

There’s my SHO wearing it’s Slicers. The Oldsmobile has steelie with super heavy wire wheel hubcaps. Them suckers are heavy too.

OZ F1 Racings, 16". Perfect sizing if you ask me, too bad they have alot of really stuck on dust from previous owner :(

All stock, and I intend to leave them that way

Konig Helium Bronze 15x6.5 wrapped with a now-dead set of 205/50/R15 Nitto NeoGens. I bought them specifically for their size and light weight for stock-class SCCA autocrossing. Picked those up used about 2 years ago with the Nittos already on them.

Black ZR1-style wheels on my base C6. Apologies for the iPotato pics.
Yes, this is my only car.

That looks awesome. I really dig when cars only have 2 colors on them.

Those are badass. What kind of car?
![]() 02/13/2016 at 11:54 |

No need to swap those out.

Yeah, those are super proper.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 11:57 |

Those are cool. Don’t think I’ve ever seen them before. I’m always a big fan of turbine-looking wheels.

The stereotypical Jalopnik answer: Mazda Miata.
![]() 02/13/2016 at 12:10 |

I think the backs are 245/45/16 and the fronts are a bit skinnier. The issue was finding a tire that came in both sizes. Ended up with Potenzas, which are pretty good. I don’t drive it much since values exploded, so I won’t have to deal with it again for awhile.

They were actually factory in most of the first and second generation SHO. Nice 16 inch aluminum wheel.
Changes the attitude of the car completely. And of course they say SHO in middle.

Should I post up?
Yeah, why not:
